8. Local Storage, Personal Content, and Responsibility
8.1 Local-only storage
SelfMeditate stores Personal Content locally on your device (e.g., using SQLite and device storage). We do not:
- upload your Personal Content to our servers,
- access or read your Personal Content.
8.2 Your responsibility
Because Personal Content is stored locally:
- you are responsible for your device security and backups,
- we cannot restore data if it is deleted, corrupted, or lost (including if you uninstall the App or change devices),
- we cannot retrieve your Personal Content on your behalf.
9. Technical Data
To support subscriptions, our service providers (primarily RevenueCat) may process limited technical data required for subscription validation, such as:
- subscription entitlement and purchase validation status,
- platform purchase tokens/receipts (from App Store / Google Play),
- device identifiers (as required by platforms for subscription validation).
This technical data:
- does not include your Personal Content,
- is used only for subscription access control,
- is processed by RevenueCat under their privacy policy.
We do not collect crash reports, error logs, or performance diagnostics.
For details, see the Privacy Policy.
10. Notifications and Permissions
The App may request permissions for features such as:
- Microphone (voice recordings),
- Camera / Photos (image capture/selection),
- Files/Storage (attachments),
- Notifications (reminders/daily quotes).
If you deny permissions, related features may not work. You can manage permissions in your device settings.
iOS Widgets and Live Activities: If you use iOS widgets or Live Activities, the App may display limited data (meditation statistics, quotes, timer information) in widgets and on your lock screen. This data is stored locally and is not transmitted to our servers.
11. Insights and Analytics
The App provides insights and analytics about your meditation practice and journaling habits (e.g., practice patterns, presence trends, journal frequency, duration statistics).
How Insights Work:
- All insights are computed locally on your device from your Personal Content
- Insight calculations use your meditation session data (presence ratings, durations, timestamps) and journal entry data (frequency, length)
- No insight data or analytics are transmitted to our servers
- Insights are only available to you and are stored locally
Sharing Insights:
- You can share insights using the App's share feature, which uses your device's native share sheet
- Sharing is entirely optional and user-initiated
- We are not responsible for what you share or with whom you share it
12. Data Export
The App provides functionality to export your Personal Content:
- Journal entries can be exported as PDF files
- Voice recordings, drawings, images, and file attachments can be exported
- Full archive backups can be created
- Exported data is created locally on your device
- We are not responsible for exported data once it leaves the App
13. Acceptable Use
You agree to use the App lawfully and respectfully.
You must not:
- reverse engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code (except as permitted by law),
- bypass or tamper with paywalls, subscriptions, or entitlement checks,
- interfere with the App's security or performance,
- use the App for illegal activities or to violate third-party rights,
- introduce malware or harmful code.
14. Intellectual Property
The App (including code, UI, design, animations, branding, icons, audio assets, and all non-user content) is owned by Unathi Studios Ltd. and protected by intellectual property laws.
Daily quotes: The daily quotes shown in the App (including in widgets and notifications) are drawn from classical texts and wisdom traditions, sometimes rendered in modern language for clarity. They are provided as part of the App's content and are not your personal data.
You are granted a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes during an active Trial or Subscription, subject to these Terms.
You retain ownership of your Personal Content.
15. Third-Party Services and Links
The App may use third-party services or SDKs and may include links to third-party websites/resources. We are not responsible for third-party content, services, or privacy practices.
16. No Medical or Mental Health Advice
SelfMeditate is provided for general wellness and personal reflection only.
It does not provide medical, psychiatric, diagnostic, or therapeutic services and is not a substitute for professional care.
If you are experiencing a crisis or may be at risk of harming yourself or others, contact local emergency services or a qualified professional immediately.
17. Disclaimers
The App is provided "as is" and "as available." We do not guarantee uninterrupted or error-free operation, nor compatibility with all devices or future OS updates.
Use of the App is at your own risk.

We may suspend or terminate access if you breach these Terms or if required for security/legal reasons.

We may update these Terms from time to time. The "Last updated" date will change accordingly.
Continued use of the App after updates means you accept the revised Terms.
